Pink Floyd's Waters tops concert ticket sales in 2012 first half

Roger Waters racked up $158.1 million in concert ticket sales worldwide so far this year with 'The Wall Live' show, outselling perennial leaders Bruce Springsteen and Madonna to become the top-selling live act for the first half of 2012.
Waters, formerly of Pink Floyd, which recorded the smash album "The Wall" in the late 1970s, sold more than 1.4 million tickets globally since the start of 2012, according to the magazine "Pollstar," which tracks the live concert business.
Springsteen's "Wrecking Ball" tour, which started in March, was a distant second with $79.9 million.
Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Madonna and Paul McCartney were on the road this year, helping to push ticket sales for the 100 largest U.S. concerts up 1.2 percent, to $1.1 billion, selling a record 18.6 million tickets.
Concert promoters dropped ticket prices by an average of $6.34, to $60.68, the lowest they've been since 2007, Pollster said, citing "today's economic realties."
Cirque du Soleil's touring musical stage show "Michael Jackson: The Immortal" was the hottest ticket in North America, with $78.5 million in sales. Waters was second in the market with $61.9 million.
But the 68-year-old Waters' stay atop of the concert leader board could be short-lived, according to Pollstar.
"While Waters still has a few Walls left to build on his itinerary, Springsteen also has along way to go before the end of the 'Wrecking Ball' tour, and still could finish with the year's top outing," the magazine wrote.
Madonna, who has sold more than $42 million in tickets worldwide, "has yet to hit North America (and) also has an outside shot," it added.

Robert Pattinson on Fifty Shades of Grey: I Would Lick the Pages!

Robert Pattinson weighed in on the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon today at Comic-Con ... with an obvious reference to the erotic novel's sexiness.
When questioned during the Breaking Dawn: Part 2 panel, he and Kristen Stewart were mum on whether or not they've read the sex-filled bestseller.
If presented with a copy, however, he knows just what he would do.
Robert Pattinson Comic-Con
"I would just sit there and lick the pages," Pattinson said in San Diego, adding, "What are we live on?" realizing his response would gain attention.
Stewart on the other hand, was less upbeat about the topic.
When asked if she reads the novel in a book club with Pattinson and fellow Twilight star Taylor Lautner, she said simply, "That would be disgusting."
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have been mentioned as possible leads in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, however unlikely that may seem.
The risque text is loosely based on their Twilight characters; Pattinson and Stewart have also been dating in real life for several years at this point.
While no mention of the pair's off-screen romance came into question today, R-Patt did address the topic of smooching his on- and off-screen love.
"She always just kissed me and I'd always be like ..." Pattinson said, holding up his head and puckering his lips, while referring to winning best kiss with Stewart in Breaking Dawn: Part 1 at the recent MTV Movie Awards.
"I just receive ... I just receive pecks."
Good to know, R-Patt. Good to know.

Tom Cruise attorney threatens National Enquirer with lawsuit

Thu, Jul 12, 2012

REUTERS - Tom Cruise's attorney has threatened the parent company of the National Enquirer with a multimillion-dollar lawsuit over a new issue asserting it has details of the actor's recent split with wife Katie Holmes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Hollywood Reporter on its website posted a letter from Cruise's Los Angeles attorney, Bert Fields, in which he blasts American Media Inc, parent of the Enquirer, for what he calls "false and vicious lies" he says will cause "hundreds of millions of dollars" in damages to Cruise.
"As you were notified in advance, your current issue of National Enquirer makes numerous false and defamatory assertions about our client Tom Cruise," the three-page letter begins.
The letter draws attention to disparaging descriptions of Cruise in the Enquirer's issue that hit newsstands on Wednesday, with Fields writing, "These are all lies - vicious, hurtful, damaging lies."
Fields did not respond to Reuters' requests for comment late on Wednesday and a representative for American Media could not be reached.
Cruise and Holmes have been the subject of hundreds of headlines worldwide since she filed for divorce from the "Mission: Impossible" movie star two weeks ago, seeking sole custody of their 6-year-old daughter, Suri.
Earlier this week, the couple agreed to a divorce and custody arrangement, but details were undisclosed. Both have remained publicly silent about the issue, except for one joint statement in which they said they were working together to settle their differences in the best interest of Suri.
Speculation about a reason for the split has centered on Cruise's membership in the Church of Scientology, but that has never been confirmed by either the couple or their representatives.

How Katie Holmes outwitted Tom Cruise: the roundup

Holmes outsmarted Cruise. (Kevin Winter/Getty Images)UPDATED: WEDNESDAY, JULY, 11, 2012

The way Katie Holmes carefully plotted her split from Tom Cruise could easily be a Hollywood thriller. The actress “surprised” her husband with a phone call asking for a divorce while he was thousands of miles away in Iceland, shooting his upcoming sci-fi flick "Oblivion," on June 29, then she managed to wrestle away custody of Suri, 6, from him just 11 days later. A report released on Tuesday details just how she went about her secret plan – she used a disposable cell phone.

According to the Los Angeles Times, a friend of Holmes provided her with the throwaway device so she could talk to her New York City-based lawyers without Cruise, 50, or his people knowing what she was up to. Now, yet another report, a People magazine story released on Wednesday, divulges further details on how Holmes caught her husband of five years off guard by meticulously plotting her divorce plans ahead of time, even reaching out to her parents for help. According to the report, Tom Cruise was about to start shooting an action-packed scene on the set in Iceland when he answered an unexpected call from Holmes. “He was about to do a stunt and got off his motorcycle to take the call,”  a source tells People. It was during that conversation that Holmes broke the news. “He’s been in shock since that day,” the source adds.
Katie, Suri, and her mother Kathleen enjoyed a day at Chelsea Piers on Tuesday. (Jackson Lee/Splash News)The Los Angeles Times also reports that when Holmes, 33, and Cruise settled their divorce on Monday, she already had three law firms in three different states set up in case she’d have to battle her soon-to-be ex outside of Manhattan, where she filed. The “Mission: Impossible” star initially wanted to hash out their divorce in California, which typically favors divorcing parents to have joint custody of their children (Holmes had requested sole custody of Suri in her filing). It turns out one of the toughest attorneys Holmes had on her side was reportedly her own father. “It’s his way or the highway,” a fellow attorney tells People of Martin Holmes, 67, a top divorce lawyer in Toledo, Ohio, who helped lay out Holmes' strategy for the split. “He’ll look a storm in the eye and make sure he’s standing when it’s over,” adds former mayor Carty Finkbeiner.

Holmes' dad arrived in New York to be with his daughter around June 26, two days before she made the call to Cruise. (Whether the actor knew the elder Holmes was in New York at the time remains to be seen). Katie's mom, Kathleen, has also since traveled to the Big Apple and was most recently spotted accompanying her daughter and granddaughter on an outing to the Manhattan athletic complex Chelsea Piers on Tuesday.
As part of the settlement, Holmes will have total control over Suri’s education. And, in a move that is a definite slap in the actor’s face, Holmes – who renounced her Catholic upbringing for Scientology when she married Cruise in 2006 – has registered as a parishioner at the Church of St. Francis Xavier in New York City not far from her Chelsea apartment. That presumably means she'll be taking Suri along with her to Mass. “Everyone is thrilled to have Katie join us,” a member of the church's choir told The Huffington Post on Monday. “She has not yet attended a service, but when she does she will be welcomed with open arms.”

The same day, Cruise filmed Oblivion in June Lake, California. (INFDaily.com)Original Source http://en-maktoob.news.yahoo.com/katie-holmes-used-disposable-cell-phone-to-secretly-plan-divorce-from-tom-cruise--report.html

Hayden Panettiere

Why is She famous?

"If I can’t flaunt it at 20, c’mon! I might as well show it now,"
said Hayden Panettiere about her nude scene in I Love You, Beth Cooper, in which she played -- drum roll -- acheerleader. Even though we only saw a bare back and a bit of side boobage, Panettiere revealed that she was in fact naked during the scene. Whether we got to see it or not, Panettiere nude caused a serious stir on celeb blogs the world over, and had us asking ourselves: "Hey, if Milo Ventimiglia could date her when she was 18, it's cool to get hot and bothered by the idea of Panettiere naked now, right?" Panettiere, mainly known for playing the superpowered cheerleader Claire Bennet on Heroes, is also known for her roles in Remember the Titans, Joe Somebodyand Raising Helen.

Hayden Panettiere Quote

" You go on these internet blogs and people say the meanest things. I'm a normal person. Just because I'm in the spotlight doesn't mean I'm god's gift to the world."

83 Sex Appeal
Nothing says "all American girl" quite like being a cover girl for Neutrogena. Hayden Panettiere also made milk look sexy in her "Got Milk?" ad campaign. In 2007, the Heroes star officially signed to William Morris Agency. Apparently, we aren't the only fans of Panettiere's sex appeal. In 2008, she made quite a few chick lists, including No. 51 in AskMen's 2008 Top 99, a position she reclaimed in 2009. Way to be steady, Hayden! She was also ranked No. 13 on Maxim’s Hot 100 in ’08  but fell to No. 36 in 2009. In 2010, she ranked #30 on Maxim magazine's Hot 100 list.

After dating Milo Ventimiglia from 2008-2009, Panettiere now spending her time with Ukrainian heavyweight boxer Wladimir Klitchko.

45 Success
We've been impressed with Hayden Panettiere's acting skills since she was a toddler, and her adorable on-screen persona continues to charm. Now that she's all grown up, we're starting to see a sexy glimmer in the eyes of this once-Playskool commercial kid.

With her successful stint on the hit show Heroes as Claire Bennet, we've watched the sexy Panettiere on a weekly basis. In addition to her work on Heroes, she has also had roles in Remember the Titans (2000), Joe Somebody (2001) and Raising Helen (2004). Her lead role in I Love You, Beth Cooper as, you guessed it, Beth Cooper, proved that Panettiere could hold her own on the big screen. She's just one of those blondes you keep on your radar.

Hayden Panettiere Biography

Hayden Panettiere Born in Palisades, New York, on August 21, 1989, Hayden Panettiere didn't wait long to begin her career. When she was just 11 months old, her mother got her a part in a commercial for Playskool toys. By the time she was 4, Hayden had almost 50 commercial appearances under her belt and was chosen for a role on the soap opera One Life to Live, which she kept until 1997.

During that stint, Panettiere became a more seasoned actress with roles on Guiding Light, the miniseries A Will of Their Own and the film The Object of My Affection (1998). After lending her voice to the Disney animated films A Bug's Life (1998) and Dinosaur (2000), Panettiere won the role of a football coach's daughter in Disney'sRemember the Titans -- arguably one of her most eminent roles.

Though still very young, the mature actress adapted well to her already successful career. In 2001, she appeared in The Affair of the Necklace, starring Hilary Swank, and the comedy Joe Somebody, starring Tim Allen. Hayden Panettiere went back to television for Ally McBeal in 2002 and the made-for-TV movie Tiger Cruise in 2004, but established herself as a film actress with roles in 2004's Raising Helen (starring Kate Hudson) and The Dust Factory, and 2005's Ice Princess.

hayden panettiere is cast on heroes

In 2006, Hayden Panettiere starred in Mr. Gibb and, that same year, she earned the role of a lifetime: Claire Bennet on the hit drama Heroes. Since then, her popularity has skyrocketed. She has received tons of publicity, partly because of the hit drama, but also because of her increasing number of endorsements -- Panettiere's face now appears everywhere.

hayden panettiere is named no. 51 in 2008 top 99 and in 2009

In 2008, Hayden Panettiere continued kicking ass in another great season of Heroes. With all her big- and small-screen success, Forbes estimated her 2007 income at around $2 million.

That same year, she landed on various men mags’ lists for hotties, and ranked well in Maxim, FHM and Wizard magazines. She also came in at No. 51 on AM's Top 99 Women of 2008 a position she reclaimed in 2009. However, she also found herself in newspapers and on gossip sites after her father was arrested in a domestic dispute with her mother. When Panettiere finally commented on the issue, she simply said: "It was blown way out of proportion by a sheriff who wanted his 15 minutes of fame. My family is wonderful, so very happy. We're all great."
Hayden Panettiere’s most recent film projects included roles in 2008’s Fireflies in the Garden costarring Julia Roberts, 2009’s I Love You, Beth Cooper, in which she had a nude scene. Unfortunately, guys, despite the fact that she filmed it naked, you only get to see her bare back. A reason to check out the film? This might be the last time you see Panettiere in a cheerleading outfit: "I think I’m just going to start putting it in my contract that I refuse to wear a cheerleading outfit for the rest of my career," said Panettiere. "In this film, I only had to put it on once for a picture, but that was it."

hayden panettiere in Scream 4

In 2010, Panettiere starred in Alpha and Omega with Christina Ricci and played Amanda Knox in the highly controversial film Amanda Knox: Murder in Italy, based an American student who is in jail in Perugia, Italy, on charges that she murdered her roommate.

We'll see her next in the highly anticipated reunion, Scream 4, alongside Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette. Soon after, she'll appear in Hoodwinked 2: Hood vs. Evil with Amy Poehler.

She's also being considered for the role of Ariel Moore in Footloose (2011), along with Miley Cyrus, Julianne Hough and Amanda Bynes.
